WORKSHOP: BIOPROCESSES USING RECOMBINANT MICROORGANISMS

The Pilot Plant of the Biotechnology Institute of the University of Mexico (UNAM), organizes the first workshop "Bioprocesses using Recombinat Microorganisms, Fermentation, Recovery and Purification" fom May 17th through May 22nd 1999. It will be held in Cuernavaca with the main objective being to provide practical training with the development of a pilot scale submerged fermentation process using recombinat microorganisms. The main unitary operations of recovery and purification will also be analysed.

The course is aimed to professionals and students of Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry. Food Sciences, Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine and other fields related to Biotechnology, who want to gain practical experience in Bioprocesses.

For more information Mr. Martín Patiño Vera from the Biotechnology Institute can be contacted to the following numbers: +52-(5)-622 7630 ; +52-(73)-17 23 88 ; +52-(73)-13 88 11 or to his email: ppiloto@ibt.unam.mx.

ADVANCED COURSE ON MOLECULAR BIOLOGY TECHNIQUES

The Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (IVIC) organizes this event, which will be held from March 6 through March 14, 1999.

It will be divided as follows: the first part will be held as a Congress, with magisterial conferences, seminars and workshops. The second part is composed of pactical courses with an average of 32 hours each.
